With RAC support from Compute Canada, we initiated the process of building thousands of environmental pathway genome databases to initiate global-scale comparisons. The development of these information resources will directly inform biotechnology innovation in Canada’s emerging bio-economy and support health research within the framework of the human microbiome project. This research would not be possible without Compute Canada infrastructure because community analysis requires substantial resource allocation to conduct automated annotation of next-generation sequencing datasets sourced from natural and engineered ecosystems.
