This research is focused on numerical simulations of fluid flow for the purpose of reducing noise emissions from aircraft engines, and for biosimulations of the wound-healing process. Compute Canada resources are used to carry our large-scale flow simulations of turbulent jet flows through corrugated nozzles. We also use GPU-based clusters for large-scale wound-healing simulations that include large domains and many cells. Our flow simulation results last year were presented at the AIAA 2014 Aviation Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. The wound healing simulation results were presented at the ASME Biomedical Devices and Biosimulations conference as well as at a research seminar at Johns Hopkins University in the U.S. The results have the potential to reduce noise emissions by aircraft engines, and to help subject specific treatments in the clinic. This research would not be possible without the Compute Canada infrastructure because the simulations would be prohibitively expensive to perform on local computer clusters.
